62-12199

This was the first and only F-110A ordered by the Air Force on 30 Mar 1962.
It made it's maiden flight on 27 May 1963. The F-110A had been redesignated
F-4C by this time. This aircraft crashed on 6 Dec 1967 in St. Louis.

The Air Force also ordered 2 YRF-110A reconnaissance aircraft on 29 May 1962
which later became YRF-4C's. They were serial numbers 62-12200 and 62-12201.

The name Spectre was chosen for the F-110A. When the Navy designation F-4H-1
and Air Force designation F-110A were dropped, for the common designation of F-4,
the Spectre name was eliminated and the name Phantom was adopted.
